Chassis no: 31631F
1937 Cord 812 Supercharged Sportsman
Chassis no. 31631F
Engine no. FC2136
In concours condition & the winner of many prizes. This rare Cord was built up over a three decades period to its current condition The last famous owner was Hispano-Suiza expert Jules Heumann, 31631F who bought it as a three decade long effort by one of the most respected Cord enthusiasts, namely Henry Portz of Arroyo Grande, California.
The engine is in as new fully rebuilt condition with just 912 running in miles so far completed. The engine is supercharged so provides excellent performance by the standards of the day. This example represents the second generation front wheel drive Cord in its ultimate 812 supercharged configuration. In addition, this car has the rarest open body type, which is very sought after due to its clean and exquisite style with fully disappearing top, unencumbered by the frivolous ornamentation plastered on so much of its competition at the time. Faults of the original design, such as slipping out of gear and vapor lock were corrected. The build of the car is fully authentic and it is probably the finest one extant. The rich maroon colour is an original Cord colour as well.
To the interior is beige leather throughout with brown carpets. The disappearing top erects easily & is of fawn canvas. An original California Title is available with the car in additon to Danish Paperwork. The car is currently in Copenhagen where it may be viewed by appointment but will be coming to us in due course.
