1928 Rolls Royce 20hp Doctors Coupe by Carlton.
Chassis number GFN67
Registration number: GU2288

Vintage and Prestige Fine Motor Cars are proud to be offering this 1928 Rolls Royce 20hp Doctors Coupe by Carlton which is a very pleasingly proportioned 20hp Doctors Coupe bodied as a second body in the late 1930's by Carlton to update and replace the original slightly staid saloon body.  At the same time a 20/25 engine was fitted whilst retaining the original 20hp gear box.  In modern times a Laycock overdrive has been fitted making this the fastest 20hp I have ever driven.  It runs effortlessly at 60 mph.

The 1928 Rolls Royce 20hp Doctors Coupe by Carlton has been under the ownership of a talented engineer for over a decade.  In his tenure, a modern alternator has been fitted allowing for prolonged night time motoring without risk of flattening the battery.  The Carlton Carriage Co bodywork is very pleasing to the eye with extremely elegant lines.  The 1928 Rolls Royce 20hp Doctors Coupe by Carlton offers versatility through the inclusion of a dickey seat to the rear for occasional riders.  The top of the luggage box lifts off and bolts back on a reciprocal 180 degrees plane in order to provide clearance for the dickey seat back.

The Rolls Royce paintwork is lightly patinated Maroon over black.  The interior is lightly used pale blue/grey leather.  The hood is also grey and is very easy to erect whilst stowing neatly under a hood bag when furled.  Twin spare Shell brand fuel cans are mounted to the running board.  On the other side is a useful tool box.  The battery box is located in the dickey seat footwall making for easy access.  The front seats are adjustable allowing for persons of both tall & short stature to be eminently comfortable.

This is a 20hp Rolls Royce engine requires no work and as such is in superb running condition.  The Rolls Royce engine is very quiet and runs cool even at speed.  The overdrive engages seamlessly.  The oil pressure is excellent.  The 1928 Rolls Royce 20hp Doctors Coupe by Carlton is a credit to its last keeper.  It has a delightful light patina of use to it giving it an authentic & useable feel as opposed to a concourse garage queen.
