Chassis number B350FV
Registration number MHY140

Vintage and Prestige Fine Motor Cars are proud to be offering this 1950 Bentley Mark VI Big Bore Special for sale. Built by a retired engineer, the brief for this special Bentley was to capture the essence of a good Derby Drop Head with modern Mark VI drivability and reliability.

Following numerous, but minor changes, this Bentley now looks great from any angle even with the roof up or down. The donor Bentley was completely dismantled with the previous saloon body being discarded. A new ash frame was fabricated and clad in aluminum. There are copious pictures of the build process.

The result is a Bentley that is spacious with a large boot for luggage in addition to a secondary vast luggage space behind the two front seats. The whole effect is seamless, integrated and looks far more like a coach built car from the 1930's as the maker intended.

The chassis was stripped and every item attended to as required. At the same time the engine was stripped down, tolerances checked and new items fitted as required. A full length stainless steel exhaust was beautifully fabricated giving a free flow system. The Bentley is finished in Bentley ‘Racing Green’ as used on the more recent Le Mans cars. The paint is of course in excellent condition being nearly new.

The interior is cream leather fitted to period seats sourced from Derby Bentley with matching beige carpets and hood material. The hood is cunningly constructed and folds back easily after undoing two simply thumb screws to the top corners of the windscreen.

Interior woodwork is mahogany with figured American walnut veneers. A hood bag fits easily over the hood once furled in the down position. The Bentley is very useable with ingress and egress easily achieved via the large rear hinged doors. There is plenty of headroom with the roof up and the cabin accommodation is wide. Steering is light and direct with a powerful engine. The Bentley offers the opportunity for reliable long distance touring in grand style with none of the issues associated with some of the older cars.
